Sacramental Preparation
|
|
|
Infant Baptism |
|
We will be happy to visit couples with infants or young children who
need to be baptized; we will help you prepare for this special
celebration. (Families are encouraged to contact the parish office to
schedule a visit before the birth). The Sacrament of Baptism can be
celebrated at one of the Masses, immediately after evening Mass on
Saturday, after the last Mass on Sunday, or at some other time that is
convenient. It is expected that families are registered and active in
the parish. |

First Penance |
|
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is usually celebrated with
children in the winter months of their 2nd
grade, most often at a communal celebration of the
Sacrament. Parents are expected to take the primary role in
preparing their children for this Sacrament. Assistance is
provided through parent meetings and in regular Christian
Formation Program (CFP) classes. |

First Eucharist |
|
First Communion is usually celebrated during the Easter
Season for children in 2nd grade; either a group
celebration or individual reception with the family are
possibilities. We are also happy to arrange for older children
to receive the Sacraments. Parents are expected to take the
primary role in preparing their children for this Sacrament.
Assistance is provided through parent meetings and in regular
Christian Formation Program (CFP) classes. |

Confirmation |
|
Any youth entering the freshman or sophomore year of high
school is welcome to begin the process of preparation
for Confirmation. This two-year preparation process includes
growth in the faith, opportunities for retreats, service,
and fellowship. See drop-down menu on
this page for
calendars. Registration takes place in the late summer
or early fall. |

Sick / Homebound |
|
Please
be sure to contact the parish or Deacon Rich Akins when someone in the family is
hospitalized; hospitals are not permitted to notify the
parish without prior consent of an admitted patient. If
surgery is anticipated, you are encouraged to receive the
Sacrament of Anointing the Sick, preferably before entering
the hospital. While most hospitals do provide communion for
their patients, we will be more than happy to bring the
Eucharist to you if the hospital does not offer this
service. We are also willing to bring communion to anyone
who is at home and unable to come to Mass. Communal
anointing at weekend masses occurs once or twice yearly. |

Marriage |
|
Engaged
couples should contact the parish office at least eight
months prior to the planned wedding date. This allows
sufficient time to complete the Marriage Preparation
Process. It is expected that at least one person is a
registered and active member of the parish, although we are
also happy to make arrangements with children of
parishioners. Weddings are usually celebrated on either
Friday or Saturday, although they may be scheduled on other
days when the circumstances require it. A booklet is given
to engaged couples that explains both the preparation
process and parish policies for wedding ceremonies. Download

Annulment |
Sometimes a person enters into a marriage that subsequently
fails and ends in divorce. Divorced Catholics are not
excommunicated and may participate in the sacramental and
other aspects of parish life. When he or she decides to
remarry, a declaration of nullity is sought in order to
allow the Catholic party to marry within the guidelines of
the
Catholic Church. This process if frequently referred to as
"getting an annulment" and is also a required process for
any divorced and remarried person desiring to become
Catholic. Please contact Father Tierney or Ann Hayles to
learn more about Church Annulments. Both are qualified and
willing to help anyone persue an annulment in order to be
free to marry in the Church. Naturally, privacy is always
honored. |
