picSACRAMENTAL PREPARATION   }

Infant Baptism
Parents are expected to be registered parishioners, and attend a baptism class. Classes are held on the 1st and 4th Sundays of the month at Noon. The Sacrament of Baptism can be celebrated during a  Sunday mass, or immediately after evening Mass on Saturday, after the last Mass on Sunday. Dates can be scheduled after parents attend the class.

First Reconciliation
The sacrament of Reconciliation is usually celebrated with children in the winter months of their 2nd grade, most often at a communal celebration. Parents are expected to take the primary role in preparing their children for this sacrament.  Assistance is provided through parent meetings and in regular Christian Formation Program (CFP) classes.

First Eucharist
First Communion is usually celebrated during the Easter Season for children in 2nd grade; either a group celebration or individual reception with the family are possibilities. We are also happy to arrange for older children to receive the sacraments. Parents are expected to take the primary role in preparing their children for this sacrament. Assistance is provided through parent meetings and in regular Christian Formation Program (CFP) classes.

Confirmation
In our Diocese, young people prepare for confirmation during their freshman or sophomore years. The preparation process consists of about one semester of catechetical sessions along with retreats, sponsor sessions, and other activities. Confirmation candidates are expected to be active parishioners: attending mass weekly, participating in regular youth programs such as Life Nights, and CFP from their younger years. Registration for confirmation preparation takes place in the Fall.

Marriage
Engaged couples should contact the parish office at least nine months prior to the planned wedding date (this presumes that the parishioner has been an active, tithing parishioner for a minimum of 6 months before any date can be set). Weddings are usually celebrated on either Friday or Saturday. At your initial visit, the priest or deacon will review fees with you. The general fee as of July 1, 2010 is $1,000. We are unable to confirm a date until a minimum deposit is made toward the fees.

Annulment
Sometimes a person enters into a marriage that subsequently fails and ends in divorce.  Divorced Catholics are not excommunicated and may participate in the sacramental and other aspects of parish life. When he or she decides to remarry, a declaration of nullity is sought in order to allow the Catholic party to marry within the guidelines of the Catholic Church.  This process if frequently referred to as "getting an annulment" and is also a required process for any divorced and remarried person desiring to become Catholic. Please contact Ann Hayles to learn more about Church Annulments.  She is qualified and willing to help anyone pursue an annulment in order to be free to marry in the Church.  Naturally, privacy is always honored.
