 Peace and Social Justice

The Peace and Social Justice committee focuses on advocacy issues. Holy Spirit specifically addresses issues related to the poor and vulnerable in our society. The committee meets the third Sunday of the month after the 10:30 AM Mass.

A number of groups meet at specific times throughout the year to address acts of charity within the parish, local community, and the broader community of our state, country, and the world. These groups include the Blood drive, Christmas in October, Angel Christmas Tree, St. James Soup Kitchen volunteers, Shoe Box drive for Hope House, Lee's Summit Social Services Food Pantry, People Helping People, and Heifer International Project.

During the Lent and Easter seasons of 2008, The Peace and Social Justice Committee is once again sponsoring the Heifer Project.

Heifer International is an organization that provides money producing animals to families and individuals in many parts of the world.  In addition to the animals, they also provide training and other services.  Information on Heifer International can be found at www.heifer.org.
