Carol Mathews

|
Carol has been liturgy
coordinator at Holy Spirit since January 2001. She has lived in Lee's
Summit for over 30 years and has been active in liturgical renewal since
the Vatican Council in the 1960's. When she moved to the Kansas City
area, she and her husband became active in parish liturgy planning and
were both appointed to the Diocesan Liturgical Commission in 1975. Over
the years, Carol has served multiple terms on the Commission, and was
chair of the Liturgical Environment Commission for several years. |

In 1993 she was elected to the Board of
Directors for the Federal of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions, serving as
Regional Representative for Region 9 (Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska.)
She was elected to three terms in this role and served for over 8 years. |

|
She has also served on diocesan conference
planning teams for 20 years, and has been in both volunteer and staff
positions for 35 years. She holds a Masters Degree in Pastoral Studies
from Loyola University, and many years of continuing education in the
Liturgy field. |

|
Carol grew up in Texas. She is married, with
2 children and 3 grandchildren. She and her husband live in Old Town Lee's
Summit--Lee's Summit's original "village." They are interested in
historic preservation and love to travel and garden. They both enjoy
discovering new restaurants and trying new food and wine. |
